Series of Academic and Health Awareness Programmes organized
Lucknow: Command Hospital Central Command organized an extensive series of academic, professional, and health awareness programmes during Nurses Week Celebrations 2026, highlighting the pivotal role of nurses in healthcare delivery, patient safety, and community well-being. The celebrations were conducted in accordance with the International Nurses Day 2026 theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”
The week-long celebrations began on May 5, 2026, with “NutriFest – Healthy Diet with Millet Delight,” a programme focused on promoting healthy dietary practices and spreading awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets in preventing lifestyle-related diseases. Maj Gen Subrato Sen, MG Med, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Nursing cadets of the College of Nursing organized informative exhibitions, nutrition awareness sessions, and demonstrations of millet-based recipes to educate participants about the importance of balanced nutrition and preventive healthcare. The programme emphasized the growing relevance of millets in improving overall health and reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases.
Continuing the celebrations, an “Arrhythmia Workshop” was organized on May 7, 2026, by nursing cadets, trainee officers, and nursing officers. The workshop focused on the identification, interpretation, and management of various cardiac arrhythmias. Participants received practical exposure in ECG interpretation, emergency cardiac care, and arrhythmia management protocols, enhancing their clinical knowledge and emergency response capabilities. Brig Vikas Srivastav graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and appreciated the academic initiative and active participation of the nursing fraternity in strengthening patient care competencies.
The major highlight of the celebrations was the “Nurses Day Programme” held on May 11, 2026, dedicated to honouring the dedication, compassion, professionalism, and tireless service rendered by nurses towards society and patient care. The programme was attended by distinguished dignitaries including Maj Gen Subrato Sen, MG Med, HQ Central Command, Dr Ashok Bishnoi, and Brig Parveen Rani. The dignitaries appreciated the invaluable contribution of nursing professionals in the healthcare system and motivated nursing officers and cadets to continue serving humanity with commitment, excellence, and empathy.

As part of the Nurses Day celebrations, a panel discussion and quiz competition were organized with enthusiastic participation from various colleges. The events promoted academic interaction, healthy competition, and the exchange of innovative ideas among participants. A poster competition for nursing officers was also conducted and evaluated by veteran nursing officers. The competition provided a platform for professional expression, research-based learning, and knowledge sharing within the nursing community, contributing to academic enrichment and professional growth.
The Nurses Week Celebrations concluded on May 12, 2026, with a ceremonial cake-cutting programme organized to commemorate the occasion and celebrate the spirit of nursing service. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the poster competition in recognition of their outstanding performance, creativity, and contribution during the celebrations. The week-long events successfully reinforced the importance of empowered nursing professionals in strengthening healthcare systems and delivering quality patient care.
